Revenge

The common dread swept over me when I received the invitation in the mail for my 20 year high school reunion. "You have to go!" my teenage daughter Chelsy giggled when I rolled my eyes. There didn't seem much point, I had only kept in contact with a handful of friends since high school. I was, however, a little curious as to how some people had turned out. Especially Sarah-Jane...

In 20 years it's unbelievable how much she hadn't changed. Arrogant, rude and still a bully I was surprised when she nestled next to me for the formal dinner. "So how is everything?" she sniggered insincerely "You look just the same" she chuckled. I had put on a fair amount of weight and dyed my hair blonde, I looked nothing like the girl she went to high school with - and Sarah-Jayne knew it.

Warning myself that I shouldn't take her comments to heart, I moved to the other side of the room. When I returned, one of my friends Angela, a proud mother, was eagerly showing Sarah-Jane pictures of her twins "It looks like you picked them up from the ears!" she gasped in to laughter, leaving Angela obviously offended.

Dinner was even more painful, Sarah-Jane running a loud commentary on everyone who graced the podium labelling them everything from "Fat" to "Stupid". She even picked on someone's partner's hairstyle. It amazed me how none of us, 20 years on could tell her to shut up.

As she picked her dinner apart, Sarah-Jane loudly boasted how she rarely ate cooked food and adhered to a strict raw diet. She also remarked on how ashamed we should all be on how we consume meat like wild animals.

Sarah-Jane had not drunk alcohol in over 15 years as drinking was only for "weak minded and socially inept people". By then half of us were on our third glass of wine! As in high school, there was nothing to stop her relentless badgering and I could barely take it - I retreated to the bar.

I ordered a fruity cocktail blended so smoothly I couldn't taste a drop of rum. Then, I had a stroke a genius. I quickly ordered another, for Sarah-Jane. I returned to the table and set it down in front of her smiling sweetly. She assumed it was juice. After one sip Sarah-Jayne proceeded to demolish the entire delicious concoction, almost automatically her eyes glazed over. I could not believe it - after one drink she was wasted!

Sarah-Jane began cackling hysterically and waving her napkin about making an absolute fool of herself. She began screeching over the speaker on stage inviting many irritated glares and hushes for her to quieten down. Everyone on our table stared at her in disbelief, wondering how had this once ice-queen turned in to such a raving mess.

After an in-depth recount of how she lost her virginity, Sarah-Jayne announced to our group "I feel crap" and burst in to tears. As pathetic as she looked I thought it was about time she felt what it was like to be ridiculed.

She cried uncontrollably and thrust her mobile phone at me to call her partner. Within ten minutes John arrived to pick her up. Incredibly unimpressed (he obviously wasn't a drinker either) he hauled a hysterical Sarah-Jayne over his shoulders and out of the room. It couldn't have worked better and I celebrated with another fruity cocktail with my real friends.

Sarah-Jane was being such a jerk that it's funny how the tables got turned around on her. Also she should have been smart enough to question the fruity drink being handed to her.
Haha, what lunchtime entertainment! If this is true, it's great - speaking as someone 6 years out of high school. Live a little, those who're spoiling the fun - even rabbits may bite when enraged.
I cant believe ppl actually think its OK you gave someone an alcoholic drink when they dont drink. Im sure you asked her first what medications she is taking? No. If she was a recovered alcoholic? No. If she was pregnant? No. Did you check to see if she was driving herself home before you gave her the drink? No. Opps Did you see if she was starting a working shift in the next 10 hrs that requires ZERO alcohol consumption? No. Because "Hey i'd love my neurosurgeon to have had her drink spiked the night before my brain operation!" You are the one who is nasty, if you were truly so great you would see that someone who ascts so badly towards others is a miserable person inside and you dont have to get revenge on them as they are in their own living hell.
If you didnt like someone in highschool, chances are there was a pretty good reason... leopards dont change their spots.
I say a collective thankyou for your due diligence. High School was not a pleasant experience for me because of people like Sarah Jane. Good on you for dishing out a taste of what she has been serving up all of her sad life.
Wow, you are a mean and nasty person. I thought you said she was the horrible one? looks like she isnt alone there...... Also if she happens to be a recovering alcoholic i hope your prepared to attend AA meetings with her? You need to grow up!
where is this bad i dont understand what you are all talking about. no.1 did Sarah Jane ever ask what was in her drink?? NO! no.2 who accepts a random drink and doesnt ask what it is??? no.3 WHO THE HELL EATS RAW FOOD. yea maybe fruit ... and finally to the people defending "Sarah Jane" like "Ads" said only people who dont remember what it was like, well you've all made yourself visable on here
I applaud Sarah Jayne for having the guts to tell her ex classmates that they were like barbarians for eating dead animals and guzzling copious quantities of alcohol. You would have thought that by the age of 40, these people would have learnt about the torture, terror and misery that animals suffer to add more inches to their fat bellies. They still hadn't woken up to the fact that our huge alcohol consumption in Australia is the result of a con trick by big business to make us believe that drinking wine makes us some kind of connoisseur, or that gulping beer after beer makes us socially acceptable. Good on you Srarh Jayne, I'd love to meet you one day for a delicious, cruelty-free, non-alcohol lunch. You are awesome, get out there and kick some more neanderthal *** girl.
People who bully usually do so because of their own deep seated insecurities. She feels the need to put others down to make herself feel big and stong because she is powerless in some other aspect of her life. This point was proven by her reaction when she was drunk. Sometimes talking to a bully (adult), making them accountable for their actions and realise that they look like a *** acting the way they are is far more valuable. She will probably take her embarrassment over the 'reuinion incident' out on some other poor sod in another area of her life.
Though funny as she was obviously a pain, I am horrified that people could do that. I am an alcoholic who has been sober for 8 years now and my biggest fear is a relapse. To think that someone could give me a drink of alcohol without me realising, it would take me right back to square one. Think of the consequences even if something may appear harmless.
