We have a son with Autism and when he was old enough we bought him a greatly longed for dog on his 11th birthday. We researched and researched. We had to be careful to find the right mix of energy, tolerance, and loyalty. Our dog is this amazing mix and so much more! He's playful but never overactive and never aggressive. He allows our son to cuddle him in ways I never thought a dog could be cuddled! But he does this incredible thing. Mind you, he's never been trained...When our son leaves the house, as he does on occasion without our knowledge, our dog "sounds an alarm". He runs to each of us not really barking, but in an almost speaking kind of howl, will get our attention and run to the door our son left from then back to us until we acknowledge him. I have had a few other breeds of dog in my life but I will never get any other breed of dog. He is truly a gift. I am thankful for this beautiful dog every day of my life.

I had an exstremely bad car accident last year on my way camping with my 2 dobes. My 4WD was a complete write off, it rolled, flipped a few times and landed on its side very unstable and I was trapped inside with one dobe who was adimant I wasnt to move. The other had been thrown out when the back window smashed and fell out. He could have ran off into the bush as we were in the middle of nowhere, but no he ran 5Ks down a dirt track to catch up with my friends in their vehicle. He ripped his pads so bad they were bleeding when he reached my friends who had just turned their 4WD around to come back and see where I was. They knew something bad had happened when the saw the dobe who was only a pup, he jumped straight into their cab and wimped until they reached me. The dobe with me would not let me move because the car had landed so unstable. Luckily we all got out alive and walked away with only cuts and bruises, but if you see the pics of the car you would be shocked!

Jo, of course nobody was looking for the baby because the only person who knew the baby was alone was the mother and she was not going to look for him. All animals are precious and should be respected. This dog deserves to be loved and looked after well. Hope the baby ends up being adopted by a wonderful family and has a happy life.

I went through a devastating time recently where I lost my beloved Mum unexpectedly and as a result I fell into a pit of chronic depression, if it weren't for my darling little dog Jimi (a mini poodle) I would not have managed to climb out of that dark place as I did. They have an instinct that is totally amazing and they just know when to look into your eyes and tell you everything is ok. I am not at all surprised at that little dog staying with that precious abandoned baby, my heart is warmed by that story.

We've got a Standard Schnauzer who is highly protective of my two daughters and my wife. To cut a long story short, if you go near my wife or kids without anything but friendly intentions you are going to get bitten. She is ridiculously clever in knowing whether someone is decent or not, we have come to regard her as a much better judge of character than any human I have ever come across. If our dog doesn't like you, then neither do we. She's great for sussing out tradies and others that come to the house, she hits the nail on the head every time. Apparently Schnauzers were bred for this very thing, to guard the children and family. They're like a body guard for your wife and kids. Next dog I get, Schnauzer X Pitbull.

This is a lovely true story and it just gives me more reason to believe in animals even more they are loyal,they are loving, they are healing but most of all they are your best friend unlike humans they are always there no matter what, it's no wonder I like dogs more than I like most humans!!

It's amazing the dog saved the baby life but dosent suprise me. There more reliable than most people. Give me a dog anyday their more loyal to you

It's amazing how protective animals get sometimes. i always joked that my old dog would like a burgular to death, but in reality if we were ever harmed, she would go absolutely crazy on them, because we were family...or just so she knew she would get fed on time. This dog is amazing,

Tigger saved my life. Not just once, but constantly. I have schizophrenia and episodes of severe psychosis culminate in suicidal depression. Tigger was there through it all, with me, beside me and without any fear or favour. Just because we were an inseperable team. Tigger stayed with me while I slept on the beach in the midst of winter and he was with me when we drove with my home in a rented truck. I miss him so much. But I am alive because of him and his love for me. I love you Tigger, hope you're happy. I am happy.

Of course the dog is a hero, the dog was obviously smart enough to know something special was there, it stuck around and and guarded the baby. Some one should spoil it rottten, what a good dog.
