The world's first pregnant man Thomas Beatie has separated from his wife of nine years.
The 38-year-old father of three revealed that he and wife Nancy Roberts had split during the a taping of the TV show The Doctors.
"Like all marriages, we have our ups and downs, and we're going through a rough patch right now. At the moment, we’re separated," he said.
Beatie began life as a woman and legally switched to a male identity, but kept his female reproductive organs making him the first legal man to give birth.
During the interview he also revealed that he had undergone the final female-to-male gender reassignment surgery.
"Nancy hasn’t seen the new me yet," he said.
Beatie has given birth to three children - a girl named Susan Juliette Beatie in June 2008, a boy named Austin Alexander in June 2009 and another boy named Jensen James Beatie, in July 2010.
Roberts, had two children from a previous marriage but was no longer able to get pregnant following a hysterectomy.
