The 11 kids in the Chalk family all go back to school!
These 11 siblings can’t wait till school starts again, even if it does take a military operation to get there.

With a small platoon of kids, it takes military- style precision for the Chalk family to make it to school on time – and everyone in this clan of 11 children under 10 knows the drill. “I have a certain way of doing things, and the kids have done it the same way for so long it’s like second nature to them,” says 33-year-old supermum Dale, of the morning routine that ensures they won’t be late for their first day of the 2012 school year.

And there are no tears or tantrums when, as seven-year-old Samuel puts it, “the big hand hits the three and the little hand hits the eight” and it’s time for these eager littlies – stars of LifeStyle Channel’s documentary 11 Kids & Wanting More – to head off. “School’s the best thing ever,” says Shelby, who is going into Year 4 and can’t wait to tell all her playmates what she’s been up to over the summer break.

And even Mum won’t shed a tear on this first day back. “I love when they go to school, because they love school. I love that they love it,” says Dale, who, incredibly, finds time to study for a Bachelor of Paramedic Science once she’s tucked them all into bed and is waiting for husband Darren, 41, to get home from his night job as an ambulance driver.

“They are super-excited to see their wonderful teachers, who are absolute treasures. I love that they want to learn so much and get excited over their classes. As far as Darren and I are concerned, education is the most important thing for our kids.”

I saw this family on t.v and could not believe what I was seeing. As for the article suggesting that she is a super mum, well, that is naieve at best. I wonder how much family allowance & baby bonuses they received. I am of the opinion that society should not be paying for couples to re-produce, particularly at this time of financial uncertainty. If you want to have 11 kids, you should be in a position to pay for them. I am sick and tired of middle class welfare recipients like this, sucking from the tite of Australia.
Ok so 11 kids is not my preferred amount of children to have. I stopped at five. However I am not sure what the single pension has to do with anything and why you hope the father is in good health...not a really nice thing to say. Isnt the article about the first day at school? As for environmentally and economically unfriendly, its their choice just like 11 coulples may have chosen to have no kids. The only thing I would say in this economical climate, who can actually afford that many kids, they must make it work somehow. More power to them and the choices they make, I really hope you get a good nights sleep mum and dad in order to keep up with them all.
Yeah what Unimpressed said. This is totally irresponsible. There should be heavy taxes for people who want to have a ridiculous amount of children. Maybe if they were super intelligent scientists whose offspring with valuable DNA could be of use to the world but theyre just a bunch of average white goop. Wanting more? Are they rodents? If they like having that many kids around there are many starving sick children in the world who need adopting.
it takes hard work, lots of love and plenty of patience to raise a family. its great to see more growing families in this nation. dismiss any negativity from others. the more the merrier
This is nothing to be proud of, this is environmently and economically irresponsible!
Hope they've got good life insurance for Darren now the Govt has changed Single parent pension so you CANT get it unless you have a child under 6. Goodluck Dale holding a job AND paying for 11 kids in childcare and vacation care. Hope Darrens in good health!!!
