Chinese New Year banquet for 8: Sticky Chinese spare ribs

Forget going out for a Chinese feast - stay home and create your own banquet to greet the year of the Ox. Gong Hey Fa Cai!
INGREDIENTS

½ cup char sui sauce
1/3 cup honey
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1kg pork spare ribs, cut into pieces
Wok-tossed Asian greens, shredded green onions and steamed rice, to serve

METHOD

  1. Preheat grill to medium.
  2. In a large bowl, combine char sui, honey and garlic. Add pork pieces, tossing to coat.
  3. Place pork on a wire rack in a baking dish. Grill 15-20 minutes, turning and basting occasionally, until cooked through.
  4. Serve with wok-tossed Asian greens, green onions and steamed rice.


Top tips
  • Char sui is a sweet sauce available from the Asian section of your supermarket.
  • These ribs can also be cooked on the barbecue.
