Question
"What marinade works well to make a steak tender on the grill? I heard you can soak it in cola for an hour or so before you cook. Does this work?"
Faron
Answer
Yes, apparently cola does work, although I admit to never having tried it. Alternatively, you could add ½ teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda to your usual marinade if liked.
I like using a marinade that contains an acid ingredient (eg: wine, lemon juice) which not only flavours your steak but has the effect of tenderising it as well. Try a combination of equal quantities of red wine, barbecue sauce, some crushed garlic and a dash of Worcestershire sauce.
