Question
"You will have to excuse my ignorance on this one, but what does it mean to char-cook something? I don't understand, does it mean to BBQ, fry, grill? Thank you,"

Answer
Char-grilling (or char-cooking) is the term used to describe anything cooked on a char-grill a gridded, cast iron plate that is heated on the cooktop.
It is very similar to cooking on the barbecue, so if you don’t have one of these, use your barbecue instead.
The cooking method is characterised by grill marks on the food.
