Swimming star Libby Trickett loves her sweets – none more so than chocolate. So it’s only fitting she’s become the face of Cadbury’s Fairtrade line of products and spreading the good word about why it’s important to buy fair-trade products.
What’s your favourite childhood memory of chocolate?
One of my favourite things to do with chocolate when I was young was to break off a line of a Cadbury Dairy Milk family block and put it in the microwave just briefly, to melt it! I loved the smell, I loved the taste but more than anything I loved licking it off my fingers. So messy!
What’s your favourite chocolate recipe?
My favourite chocolate recipe is ‘classic chocolate chunk cookies.’ I love to cook these simple and delicious cookies and share them with my husband, family and friends.v
What do you love about chocolate cookies?
I love making them and eating them! I love it when they're still warm and a little soft in the centre, and being able to share them with friends and family.
Why is it important to buy Fairtrade Certified chocolate?
By purchasing Fairtrade Certified Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate you are helping benefit Fairtrade cocoa growers in Ghana. Fairtrade helps empower these farmers and their communities by ensuring they get fair and stable prices for their produce as well as additional funds to invest in everyday things such as health care and education. As Cadbury’s Fairtrade Ambassador I urge all Aussies to make the swap to Fairtrade Certified products when it comes to buying their chocolate.
Does it affect its quality?
No, it still has the same great traditional taste and smooth texture we all love. However, now Aussies can enjoy their favourite chocolate with the knowledge that it will further help Fairtrade cocoa farmers and their families in Ghana.
Fair Trade Fortnight (www.fairtradefortnight.com), Australia’s biggest annual celebration of all things Fair Trade, is happening from 7th-22nd May and is a chance for every Aussie to make a swap to Fairtrade Certified products and celebrate the life-changing difference it makes for millions of developing country farmers and their communities.
