Pete Evans and Tobie Puttock are among the celebrity chefs who will be on hand for cooking advice and guidance at this year's inaugural FlavourFest, as part of the Hunter Valley's food and wine month.
Spread over the June long weekend, June 12 to 14, the pair will take over the Hunter Valley Gardens giving cooking demonstrations and advice on how to cook fresh produce.
"I love the Hunter Valley, it's just really cool and I have been there heaps of times," Pete Evans said.
"I'm doing three 45-minute demonstrations throughout the day [Monday, June 14]. There will be breakfast and brunch recipes as well as a seafood one. I really enjoy teaching so hopefully people get a new dish that they can try at home."
International award-winning chef Tobie Puttock said he looked forward to choosing fresh produce from the region for his demonstration dishes which will include some of his favourite recipes. He will also be answering questions and teaching techniques.
"Like always, I'll be cooking and I am doing three demonstrations [Saturday, June 12] and I will change the dishes each time," he said.
The event will also include talks by food writer Janelle Bloom; a marketplace selling fresh produce; a range of cuisines including Thai, Japanese, Peruvian, Turkish, Italian and German; a beer, wine and cocktail hall; and a seminar stage which will have food and wine facts on offer.
Details: Entry to the gardens is $23.50 per adult and children (16 and older); $15 for children (four to 15 years old); and free for children (three years old and under). There are also two- and three-day passes.
