Painting, lifting and carrying for the hit TV show has seen Brad lose weight and get back his mojo.
When Brad and Lara first met, they were fit and fabulous. But injury and London changed all that for Brad. Five years ago, when they began dating, Lara was studying to become a PE teacher and Brad was playing first grade rugby league. Sadly, a neck injury meant he had to give up footy.
“It was pretty tough, because I’d played since I was four,” he says. “I started putting on weight.” Entering The Block was the kick-start Brad needed to shed the weight. Now, he looks better than ever after losing 12kg in three months.
“He looks amazing,” says Lara during our photo shoot. “I am so proud.”

After his exit from footy, Brad’s weight ballooned. “We moved to London for
two years and the ‘Heathrow Injection’ hit,” laughs Lara. “I was hit pretty hard,” says Brad. “I put on a fair bit over there, partying and eating badly.”
When the couple, both 30, moved home to Maitland, NSW, Brad tipped the scales at 130kg. He shifted a few kilos last year when he got the chance to go bungee jumping in New Zealand for his 30th. “I had to be under 128kg,” he explains.
