Life after Junior MasterChef for Isabella and Jack

Monday, November 15, 2010
Romance on The Block: Cheryl and Brenton get engaged!
They’ve impressed Australia with their culinary competence on the show, now the two finalists share their hopes for the future – along with their favourite recipes.

Isabella's dream

Isabella, who’s been described as an “adult chef in a little body”, now has a legion of fans around the country. “Everyone wants me to cook for them,” she says. “I have a waiting list!”

But regardless of her success, some things will never change for Junior MasterChef’s Isabella. “I know I’m back in reality when my mum tells me to tidy up my room,” laughs the 12-year-old.

What Isabella still loves most is hanging out with her twin and best buddy Sofia, who also cooked her heart out on Junior MasterChef.

Jack's Dream

He’s the Tasmanian 12-year-old whose life has changed beyond his wildest dreams. Lately, Junior MasterChef’s Jack has had lots of practice at signing his autograph.

“The show’s changed things heaps,” grins the lively lad, who’s back home in Hobart. “Wherever I am now, people say ‘You’re Jack!’ Everyone recognises me.”

i highly doubt the game was rigged. i think what happened was that cos isabella's dish was tasted first (the pastry) and also judged without comparing it to jacks, that the judges tasted it and thought it deserved a ten. it was probably very close to the original. but then when they tasted jacks, they realised it was better. but they cant change isabellas original scores. i think thats why 3 of them felt compelled to give him 11 because they couldnt deny that it was better than isabellas. i think it ended up being unfair, though the best was done for it not to be. i dont really know how else they could have done it. they cant taste both at once, and leaving judging till after tasting both dishes might give the last dish an unfair advantage. congrats to both.
whilst they were both sensational, frankly I cannot see why Isabella won when she needed help - twice -and Jack's dishes consistently won over the top points through his own creativity.
I think both kids did a fantastic job! Isabella deserved her win, and they both have a very bright future ahead of them!
I've never watched adult cooking shows, but was interested about the youngens, wish my kids were that talented. SO impressed, I'm sure they all will have impressive careers.
We don't see everything that actually happens on that show. Just because we saw them intervene with Isabella, doesn't mean they din't with Jack... it's called editing. The tv airs what it wants you to see and makes you think its going to go a certain way. That's just how tv is. I think both of them did a great job well done to both Isabella and jack and all the other contestants..they can certainly do a much better job in the kitchen than i can!
what a shocking episode. jack clearly deserved to win, as his food was much better. i was supporting jack all the way and he deserved to win without a doubt. his food was amazing and very well presented. how dare they help isabella so much and not jack. his life could have been ruined. what a joke. great one masterchef
I know we should be encouraging the kids to be cooking, that's great that people are doing that now, but from that video most of the foods they created were fattening, that's because they were quick and easy foods to make. But we should be bringing them up to create healthier foods too.
The odd thing that I found is that I have seen Jacks invention before it's not new at all sure the Judges acted surprised but I did not. Shows how good Master Chef Judges know the other TV cooking shows.
C'mon everyone! How are you ever going to get a fair contest when TV shows are measured by their ratings. Whilst everyone can put their hand on their heart and say they did the right thing during the show, I don't think they always did what is right! Whilst Jack was very deserving, he was always going to be the runner up. A pretty young girl, her twin sister etc etc, it doesn't take much to figure out who is going to get the preference by TV heirarchy.
Junior Master Chef was a wonderful event that could have gone horribly wrong if handled badly. I loved the enthusiasm shown by the kids who were all absolutely remarkably skilled for their age. This enthusaism seemed to be shared by the judges and the special guest chefs. If only I could create food like that at their age - or even at my age!!! Congratulations Channel 10 and all involved for a thoroughly entertaining series. Judging by the ratings, a lot of others thought the same. This can only benefit a young person's love an appreciation of good food and creativity. Well done to all the kids involved!

I really do think the Spice Girls were very inmature and silly young ladies, but they were not nasty and vicious like those 2 Cabramatta girls. Fancy them saying after they did not win at the Sydney markets that they would have done a better job of making the Vietnamese Pork Rolls, that the brother and sister team won in that challenge. Sophia and Ashlee must have seen green that day, with smoke coming out of their ears. SUFFER. Obviously you both think you can do better, but the public that came for lunch at the market didn't think so. If the dress was sleeveless with a lower neckline and a bottom hem that finished above the knee, it may have looked a little better. This is a very immature thing to do. Of course he is only thinking with his old fella instead of his brain as he sure doesn't give a damn about his kids. Michelle does not have any so she don't care. Both should go off quietly together as they are both pathetic.Pip, NSw9 CommentsPost commentView comments Mahalia Barnes transformed: I'm half my size!Mahalia Barnes transformed: I'm half my size!I agree 100%. Well done Mahalia, you look wonderful and are an inspiration to your daughter & lots of other women. But how ridiculous to suggest she is a size 8-10, I weigh 68 Kilos and being10cm taller I'm pretty confident I'm slimmer through the torso - but no way can I fit into an 8, a 10 maybe if its not too fitted.Chaz, Adelaide5 CommentsPost commentView comments
