The numerology of fatherhood

Monday, September 1, 2008
As part of our Father's Day celebrations, numerologist Max Coppa takes a look at the numbers to answer the question: what is your fathering style?

First, work out your life lesson number...

Simply add up all the numbers in your birth date and break them down to the smallest denominator.

For example, if you were born on 28/09/1943 you would add 2+8+9+1+9+4+3 = 36, then add the 3+6 and get 9. That's your life lesson number.

However, if your dates add up to one of the four master numbers of numerology which are 11, 22, 33 and 44, then leave them as they are — these are special numbers!

Fathering styles based on life lesson numbers

Life lesson 1

1 dads are active and involved in all sorts of activities. Spending time with the family, games, sport, swimming and going camping are just some of the things they like to do. They tend to be very boisterous so much so that it might be hard to get the children to sleep at night because dad has wound them up. Even the food this dad gives them might hype them up. 1 dads are fun to be around and he helps to build their confidence.

Life lesson 2

2 dads are more sensitive and emotional, and they feel things on a deeper level. They are very nurturing, loving and are always there for their children. They provide guidance through love and understanding of the hard roads of life. They will play games with their children (playing house and with toys) and even cooking in the kitchen for this dad is a joy. He loves to cook and to help his children learn new skills.

Life lesson 3

3 dads are fun to be around and there is always plenty of laughter and jokes to be had. They tend to get involved in lots of different things and often try to do too much at once. Sometimes they can forget important dates and appointments, so make sure you remind them. They love movies, computers, music and television shows and their inner child shines here. They like to read stories and are good listeners.

Life lesson 4

4 dads like the physical stuff like sports and rough and tough games for the boys and strong girls. They are very protective of their children, they expect a lot and can even be a little overbearing at times. They have usually played some type of sport in their life, so this helps them in coaching the kids. They are not always the greatest conversationalists, but they make up for this by working around the house (fixing and building things) for the betterment of their family. Their home is their castle.

Life lesson 5

5 dads are out there looking for the positives in their children and giving them plenty of encouragement. They show their children how to have purpose and drive. They get involved in most activities and may be a strong supporter from the boundary lines. They are known to travel long distances (and make sacrifices) for their children and partner so they can achieve. They are good value and are good to have around the home.

Life lesson 6

6 dads are loving, close to their family and will do the best they can to help their family in any way. He will go out of his way to make sure his children look their best and that his family unit is loving and happy. Love is very important to this dad and he enjoys his role and spending quality time with his children (reading stories etc). He will show affection to his partner, which will go down well with the kids and makes for a happy and harmonious home.

Life lesson 7

7 dads are great with computers and are the master of all sorts of games, so children of this century love them. They are very bright people, so games with imagination, thought and skill will feature strongly. They are naturally competitive, so sometimes games can get out of hand and mum might have to intervene to mediate and diffuse any minor spats. This dad loves to win and be the boss, so when he is home make sure all of the chores are done first. They are very active and intelligent dads, but they are also easily sidetracked.

Life lesson 8

8 dads are the driving force behind the family. They are good providers and supply the material necessities as well as the character. They have strong values and teach their children how to value themselves and their time. Once the chores are done the 8 dad will pay his children pocket money. This dad will definitely not let their family go without, so on Fathers Day a nice present and good breakfast to say thanks will go a long way. These dads will be with you for the future as well They are strong but you can count on them.

Life lesson 9

9 dads are the loving counsellors when things get tough. This is the dad that takes you fishing, swimming or to places you've dreamed about or that have been in the stories he has read you. And boy, he can tell good stories, even scary ones! Sometimes this dad is hard to get through to and he is not always the best communicator, but he always seems to have the right answers when you need it. With 9 dads its not always what they say, but rather what they don't say. Just know they love you and will support you on any road you take in life and that's their promise.

Life lesson 11

11 dads are similar to the 1 dads, however the energy is amplified. They are active in every way and very protective of their partner, children and home. You may get a lecture every now and then but this just goes with the territory. Dividing equal time between work and home can be a challenge for them, but they seem to handle it. 11 dads often find that there are simply not enough hours in the day to get everything done. They provide, protect and love their family and get involved in their children's interests.

Life lesson 22

22 dads are similar to the 2 dads, however the energy is amplified again. Love and warmth are their trademark and they can even be more maternal than their partner (they make good stay-at-home dads). They are devoted to their children and home, and this can put a strain on things at times. Lots of love and affection from their partner and children recharges their batteries. They may have a sweet tooth, so chocolate is a sure-fire winner on Father's Day.

Life lesson 33

33 dads are revved up and the double 3s mean double the fun. They tune in easily to family members, especially the children and will talk you through most situations. A good sense of humour is in their bag of skills, and with a 33 dad the house will always be abuzz with fun, music and entertainment. He can be noisy but is a good dad, so tell him what he means to you and he will appreciate it so much.

Life lesson 44

44 dads are strong and firm fathers who are sticklers for detail and punctuality. They are fearlessly protective of their family and loved ones. He'll gravitate to sports that show thought and courage and he will try to make a man out of you. Under it all, he is a good dad but they need to lighten up a bit. Try and get him to see the funny side of things, take him to see comedies or fun movies to help him. If this dad says he will take you somewhere, believe it!

So much for the sisterhood. I am a stay at home Mum. I do not "bludge" off my husband. I manage the house, the meals, the money and everyone's schedules. I do not have a "clock off" time. But I do have break times. When my son is at school and my baby boy is asleep I can put my feet up, read a book etc. I do make time for myself and yes I do complain sometimes especially when I am tired. My husband also comes home from work and complains about his job sometimes. Everybody has a right to have a bit of a whinge regardless of the choices they made in life. I love my role and despite some complaints from me there are also many rich rewards. I have not missed a moment of my baby's life so far, I get to help my older boy with his homework and be involved with his life. If you feel unappreciated speak up. I do if I feel I am being taken for granted. Perhaps some want it that way. I have been in it for may years on and get annoyed by the stuff written about it. The media like to sell their magazines by creating controversy about the religion and the celebs that belong to it. One also wonders if vested interests who want to put Scientology out of business because of its genuine stance against pharmaceutical drugging of kids and abuse of human rights might be financing some of these attacks. Scientology is about spiritual awareness. Something that I feel this society is short of. Especially when a society seems to be rife with magazines full of gosip based not nessecarily on fact but what someone thinks people want to hear. Good luck to the happy couple and if it doesnt work out then good luck to both of them anyway.
