Get the Chanel look

— November 4, 1963

Benefits of breastfeeding

— January 18, 1965

"The psychological value of breast-feeding cannot be over-estimated," advised Sister Kathleen Swan, who addressed the problems confronting mothers of young children in her weekly parent column.

"It develops a close association between mother and child and gives the child a sense of security."

Proper breast care in the months leading up to birth were also highlighted by Sister Swan who advised, rather racily, that the nipples should be "exposed to direct sunlight for two or three minutes several times daily, without getting sunburnt."
