Bob Irwin reveals: I hear Steve from the grave

Bob Irwin explains to Warren Gibbs how Woman’s Day’s acclaimed psychic Deb Webber connected him with his beloved son.

For the first time since Steve Irwin’s tragic death, his father, Bob, has finally managed to find peace and contentment – after an extraordinary beyond-the-grave encounter with his son.

Although Bob says he has long sensed Steve’s presence around him, he reveals it wasn’t until he received Steve’s message of love and support from the other side that he was convinced his son’s spirit truly lives on – and wants him to be happy.

“He has told me everything is OK, not to be sad and to keep up the fight, to continue looking after the animals,” Bob, 69, tells Woman’s Day.

A former psychic cynic, Bob describes his first true spiritual experience with Steve – who was killed three years ago by a stingray barb while diving in north Queensland – as both “powerful and moving”.

“Steve told me things only he and I knew about,” he reveals. “I still get goose bumps just thinking about it.”

Deb Webber put Bob in touch with Steve during a reading at his remote bush property, Camp Chilli, near Bundaberg in Queensland. Bob had requested the reading with Deb after she was recommended by a friend.

“I told Deb how I had felt Steve around me, how I would often wander into the bush, sit on a rock and open my heart to Steve,” Bob says. “I just desperately wanted to talk to him, and Deb thankfully made that possible. “Steve was so much more than a son to me, he was my best mate.”

Im not sure where you have been living TESS, but not ALL ghosts or contact with the otherside are demonic. Yes there is chance that something demonic can come through when mediums channel, but if you have ever had contact with the otherside you would not have made this statement. Good on ya Bob, I know that Steve is walking around his zoo all the time watching over his family. He has too much to take care of down here, so I do believe that contact was made and am glad. Linda
I don't know if you realize that the only thing that is contacted by a medium is demonic. Of course demonic powers can know the most detailed things in one's life and does tell the most intimate. The nightmare just begins. Demons are an intelligent entity and exist. If there is anyone with any intelligence and experiences weird supernatural that IS frightening and not relenting rush to an exorcist (Catholic-) and get help asap. I feel for the Irwins and I liked Steve too, but you are absolutely being duped to believe you are contacting anyone who has died THE ONLY THING YOU ARE CONTACTING IS DEMONIC!!! so don,t go there EVER!!.
I have read some of the nasty coments here. and i think people should get a life. preferably your own. and mind ya own business. I was also skeptical once. But you cant deny when you are stone cold sober and straight as a dice. So each to their own. Good luck to the Irwins. To those unfortunate people who are too self absobed to recieve the gift. Your loss.
it is irrelevant wether or not we believe or not, or have opinions of the good or evil of his experience. bob may be a celebrity father but he is a grieving parent as anyone else who has lost a child would be. it is just nasty and uncalled for to doubt his grief, children should not die before us as parents. the pain and loss go on for ever.. i know from bitter experience. have some respect in your comments, those who can't empathise.
haha i agree with buddha sticks well put!! im sick of the irwins too Steve wasnt a real aussie icon who really says "crikey" anyway and such words. the kids are made to be in television and im tired of hearin bout them
while it is a good thing that Bob finds closure but it is also another thing to dwell on the past and live in delusion.. not to mention announcing this ridiculous notion to the media. Honestly for those of you who think there really is some kinda divine intervention that is allowing spiritual communication between him and his son, what irony that this "divine" you speak of is also responsible for Irwin's death.
How come contacting a spirit is illegal to do if your a religious person...BUT Jesus rose from the cross or whatever, did he even die? if he did how is that possible and if he is a spirit why are u guys even talking to him? isn't it forbidden to talk to spirits? I'm so confused i see contradictions EVERYWHERE!! And whats the bet you have an answer for this too and ill sit back and see another hole in your answer....this is why the Bible is so thick...its to cover all the contradictions in the stories in there!!
Seriously guys, some of the comments that have been posted are just disrespectful and ridiculous. Good on Bob for contacting Steve. And what rubbish about 'messing with the spiritural world'. If Steve didn't want to be there, his presence would not have occured- especially in such a warming manner. Also. All this 'sick of the Irwins'- Is it their fault they are such a publicized family? Honestly! Steve was a great guy, and after his sudden passing the Irwins have not had a break! The media are constantly in their faces, how is it possible for them to not do something 'out of the ordinary' or step one foot out of line without becoming front page of the paper the next day? Just let them be, and if you don't believe Bob, then find something more 'believeable' for your eyes to read. Rest in Peace Steve.
there is not much i can say but u are very lucky to be able to hear steve when i am alone i feel like i can hear my great grandfather who passed away a few years ago but when u hear him listen carefully to what he says he might be trying to give u a message or a warning so listen very carefully and try to rember what he says
Don't most Christians pray to the Holy SPIRIT? How can one spirit be holy & the rest evil? I won't pretend to know it all when it comes to the other side but I do know I have felt it - a handful of times since I was 10yo (in my thirties now) it was comforting although I was a little scared. After my Mum died My Sister & I stayed in the same bed together the night before Mum's funeral, at first I thought there was a cat on the bed but it was Mum she tucked us in like she use to, how can that be evil? I couldn't see her but boy did I feel it. I have never had an experience without my sister so i'm lucky I can't doubt that it happened! Mum told us before she died that if she could let us know that there was another side & that we would see her again she would & that she did. Her parents died young & it always hurt her they didn't visit. I also see a cat I had in childhood who died when I was almost 10, he always comes not long before a loved one dies! Weird I know. It's a comfort.
