Kyle hits rock bottom

Thursday, August 6, 2009
The shamed radio host fears that with his career in crisis he's about to lose it all, writes Angela Mollard.

Just 10 months ago, Kyle Sandilands sat on his throne like a portly king surveying the opulent scene before him. He took in the A-list celebrity guests, the ostentatious eight-tier cake, the thousands of Swarovski crystals used to spell out his and his bride's names and, of course, Tamara herself, dressed in 200 metres of finest quality silk.

If ever there was a moment when he felt he had made it, this was it.

Yet less than a year after his grossly extravagant wedding, the self-styled media king has hit rock bottom.

In TV's most humiliating dethroning, he has lost his $1 million-a-year job on Australian Idol, cost his radio employers millions in lost advertising, and invited the spotlight onto his finances, with his debts estimated at $2.2 million.

And all because he cast aside decency, caution and the traditional seven-second program delay which might have saved him, and instead grilled a 14-year-old girl about her sexual experiences on-air.

Now, just as he has reached the peak of his career, Kyle's world is crumbling around him and Woman's Day can reveal that he is terrified he is about to lose all he has created.

"He's spent his whole life working towards being rich and famous, and now that he's achieved that, he's extremely worried that it's all going to evaporate," says one media insider.

Reactions to the radio stunt have been strong, with Prime Minister Kevin Rudd saying, "This is really off. It's wrong, shouldn't be done. This is a young girl and I am really distressed at the way in which the young person has been treated. [A police investigation] is entirely appropriate."

Pride cometh before a fall.
who cares!! the sooner he goes the happier 90 per cent of Australia will be! He's a loud mouth arrogant bully and an oh so ugly one at that. Maybe that's the reason he is such a bully, he feels total disgust for himself, and the fact that he's a weakling with nothing but an over the top ego and no brain. However there are a lot of weaklings running 2Day FM and he will no doubt be back abusing someone else next week or the week after. This mob will only wake up once all their sponsors have pulled the plug and then it will be too late. As for Jackie, she's a follower and a weakling. Surely if she had any real morals and back bone she'd refuse to work with this creep and go work somewhere else.
I think he's a good guy really. I mean think about it. It wasn't entirely his fault. He speaks his mind which I think is great. It's not like he laughed when this girl said it though. The girl also agreed to be on the radio and I believe Kyle nor Jackie-O were the ones asking her the questions. STOP judging people by what the media tells you they are.
I forgot to mention how disgusting we all are how The Ten network reacted and sacked kyle from Idol well more fool them Kyle was a straight to the point judge and more often than not you could relate accuratly to what he said Oh well we will stick to foxtel instead.
The trouble is in this country you don't like anyone that is successful and you don't like anyone that speaks up and say's it as it is. So what do the public do you watch and wait and because your so small minded, jealous & two faced you look at anything or any mistake in the hope you can pounce. Kyle is the victim of the Australian tall poppy syndrome but at the end of the day he will bounce back bigger and stronger than ever and I we wish him rhe best off luck. Sure Kyle & Jackie made a mistake but come on we have all been there what kind of mother pulls a stunt like that uses her daughter and sets up people!!!Can't you all see the facts and what happened for once in your lifes why don't you stop acting like bushpigs and support Kyle & Jackie you might actually contribute something of value for once. Just watch the recalsitrant mother work out how to make some beer money out of this. And as far as we are concerned thank god the radio station re-instated them both.

Everyone is focussing on the alleged rape this poor 14 year old girl experienced. For me it goes further back did the radio shock jocks not take into account that it is still illegal to have sex when 14 years old. What were they thinking and promoting. Ididots the pair of them
Couldnt happen to a nicer guy. Kyle u deserve everything u get and its long overdue !!!! Jackie wake up to urself. I used to think u had brains but no more, not after u staying with the 'Loser ' for so long AND agreeing with him !!!!!
hi i just like to say that our premier nathan rees should concentrate on getting his government in order then worrying about kyle and jackie o .they are two very good DJS and loved by many .nathen rees is the biggest fool we have ever had as premier in NSW and hated by thousands of people in this state .he should get a bit of guts and take control of this state .but at the moment it is run by the RTA they say jump rees jumps all the time .and he sholud leave kyle and jackie o alone they are doing their job . so rees should get on with hes .
Never been happier to see someone have such a change of luck. Its long overdue and I hope he gets all he deserves and thats nothing. He is a horrible man and Jacki o is just a follower.
