Born in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1955 and moving here in 1963, Angus Young is one of Australia's most recognisable music artists.
The mostly self-taught guitarist is a member of AC/DC, the much esteemed and internationally renowned rock band.
Donning his famous schoolboy costume, Young released 25 albums with AC/DC, of which they have collectively sold more 200 million copies.
This success saw the band become inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, after already being inducted into the Aria Hall of Fame in 1998.
The band has won three ARIA awards, five APRA awards and has been nominated for two American Music Awards.
In 2006, Young was individually recognised at the Kerrang! Awards in London, receiving the “Legend” award.
AC/DC has seen itself in many top 10 best artist lists world-wide, and Rolling Stone put them as number 72 in its list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
Young often features on lists of the world's best guitarists, and Rolling Stone singled him out as number 24 on their 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list. His famous runs and licks can be heard on soundtracks to movies and sporting events world-wide.
