Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr announced the name of her new baby via her Facebook profile earlier today.

"Thank you for all your lovely comments," she posted. "We have a beautiful little boy named Flynn."

Miranda went on to confirm baby Flynn's date of birth as January 6, 2011 and that he was born after a difficult labour which involved no pain killers but where she had the constant support of her husband, Orlando Bloom.

"I gave birth to him naturally; without any pain medication. Orlando was with me the whole time supporting and guiding me through it."

Although Flynn was born in the US, Miranda has made it clear that her baby will spend a lot of time in Australia. She said that despite having US, European and Australian passports, her first born will be "an Aussie through and through".

Clearly glowing and deeply content as a new mum, Miranda also posted a photograph of her breastfeeding baby Flynn. "We are so happy and are enjoying our time together as a family," she wrote. "He is our little ray of sunshine. Love, Miranda xx."
