Farewell from Amy Sinclair

, Prev Next

The last time I brought my daughter Queenie into the office for a few hours, I swore I would never do it again. She was about 18 months old at the time, and within an hour of her arriving she'd literally turned my office upside down — emptying out every cabinet, drawer and bowl she could get her hands on.

But this week I had no choice but to bring her in again when I had a childcare disaster and had no-one to mind her. The good news is that my office stayed intact... well, except for the Vegemite smeared on my desk. But my day did involve about 87 trips to the toilet, thanks to Queenie thinking a visit to the ladies office toilet was a truly exciting event and "needing to go!" every three and a half minutes.

Then she fell in love with my assistant Di, who Queenie hasn't stopped talking about since — "Can I live with Di?" And every morning since, she has pleaded to come to work with me so she can see "my Di".

Sadly, that's just not possible as this is my last week as editor of this wonderful magazine. I have decided to take a break to spend some more time with my children, which is of course fantastic for my family and me — but also very sad for me as I will miss working with the amazing and talented Woman's Day team, not to mention talking to you guys every week.

But I am leaving you in the very wonderful hands of Zoe Meunier, who will be acting editor as of next week. Thank you for all the emails and letters I've received from so many of you, I have loved being part of your lives through Woman's Day.
